Strong Island Summer Clash

DIVISIONS:  Girls Graduating in the Class of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025

FEE: $1,150 per team

United Lacrosse is excited to announce The Strong Island Summer Clash YOUTH team tournament for girls.

We will be hosting this tournament at the beautiful Mitchel Field Sports Complex in Uniondale, New York. Mitchel Field is located only minutes from the Nassau/Suffolk border and is less than an hour drive (24 miles from NYC) from most areas in the Tri-State and all NYC Airports.

LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY (495)

· To Northern State Parkway.
· Northern State Parkway to the Meadowbrook Parkway South (Exit 31A/Jones Beach).
· Meadowbrook Parkway to Exit M4-Hempstead/Coliseum. Follow the sign for Charles Lindbergh Boulevard.

NORTHERN STATE PARKWAY

· To Meadowbrook Parkway South (Exit 31A/Jones Beach).
· Meadowbrook Parkway to Exit M4-Hempstead/Coliseum. Follow the sign for Charles Lindbergh Boulevard.

SOUTHERN STATE PARKWAY

· To Meadowbrook Parkway North to Exit M4 (Hempstead/Coliseum).

This event is fully insured. There are no waivers necessary.

General

  • Tournament is in “running time” format
  • Any fighting or disrespect towards an official will result in expulsion. The director will determine the length.
  • Red Card-the player will be required to sit out their next game
  • If a coach is issued a yellow card it counts as a team foul and the team must remove a player from the field. If a coach receives a Red Card they must leave the game and go to tournament HQ.
  • The ref keeps the official score
  • No jewelry, no band aids covering the jewelry
  • Goalies must wear all equipment (shins and thigh pads, mouthguards)

Game Format

  • Each team is guaranteed 4 games
  • Division Champion Decided by: Best Record, Head to Head (If you played each other), goals against, coin flip
  • Games consist of 2 21 minute halves, 3 minute halftime, 5 minutes between games
  • No timeouts
  • During an injury time out, clock will run
  • Time will be kept at Tournament HQ
  • One long air horn blast starts the game and one long air horn will end the game
  • On an 8 meter shot, if the game horn sounds, while play is stopped and players are setting up for an 8 meter shot, the shot can be played out; once it changes possession the play and game are done. If the 8 meter was already in play, when the game horn sounds, then the game is done at the time of the horn; if ball crosses goal line after the game horn: NO GOAL (same ruling as USL).
  • No mercy rule for all grade levels

2025 Division Rules

  • 8 v 8 or 10 v 10 or 12 v 12 (coaches can decide)
  • Full field
  • No Checking
  • 3 Second rule for good defensive positioning
  • 3 Pass rule will be implemented (No player may shoot until her team has attempted or completed three passes)

2023 & 2024 Division Rules

  • 12 v 12
  • U.S. Lacrosse Youth Level A Rules
  • Modified checking
  • 3 Second Rule for good defensive positioning
  • Red Card- the player will be required to sit out their next game

2021 & 2022 Rules

  • 12 v 12
  • Full Checking Allowed
  • Teams will use regular U.S. Lacrosse Women’s Rules
  • Red Card- the player will be required to sit out their next game

Rules Related to Inclement Weather:

  • There are no “rain dates” for the Strong Island Summer Clash
  • If inclement weather causes a game stoppage (thunder or lightning) during the event, the following rules apply:
  • Play will stop until Tournament Director decides weather is suitable to resume playing
  • If delay is large, remainder of the game times may be shortened to get tournament back on schedule
